** We Recently Experienced Technical Issues **

Technical Support for the server advises an upgrade to the Linux
version due to incompatability between cpanel and the older version
of Linux we run. There may be a temporary interruption of services
when they do this. For latest info, please check back here
(tuxsupport.com).
*** [5/31/11] The Data Center took us down for about 2 hours this
morning from an unrelated power issue. This was an unannounced outage. ***
*** [6/04/11] The server was down for more than 24 hours recently
while software was being updated. It is currently running, but has
unresolved issues. Technical Support suggested migrating everything
to a different service provider. Currently I am waiting to see if the
issues can be resolved.
The process was actually quite involved. Cpanel began sending me
hundreds of error messages a day, technical support traced the problem
to an incomaptible (older) version of Linux, no longer supported by
cpanel. They arranged with the data center for an upgrade. Data center
took down the computer and replaced the hard drive with a new one which
had newer software installed on it. The old hard drive was moved on the
server as an auxiliary drive. Then they restored power to the computer
and technical support loged in remotely to configure the software and
move data from the old hard drive to the new one. Even though they are
far enough along now that the system is accessable on the net again, there
are remaining unresolved issues.
***[6/08/11] No Joy *** The server was recently down for more than
24 hours again after technical support was unable to resolve remaining
technical issues. Data center had installed a new version of Linux
operating system, as recommended, but was unable to resolve dependency
issues. (They had charged us $25 for this, and actually wanted to
charge us another $25 to do it again, with no guarantee that results
would be any better. Also they had been very slow.) Technical support
was still recommending moving to a different center, so I finally agreed
to do so. The move was completed very quickly, and we are now running
on a shiny new server, on iWeb, out of Canada. The new server also
provides upgraded specifications for the same cost.
***[6/12/11] Comments *** Service and performance at the new data
center has been outstanding since technical support moved there us four
days ago. Everything seems to be working perfectly. Our connection on
the internet is a bit faster than it was before, and web pages load more
quickly now. All web pages and accounts should be operating normally.

Our server was experiencing security issues, and it was
necessary to install an updated version of the operating system (linux)
on a new hard drive. All of the account information has been moved
to the new system, and we are 100 % restored to normal operation.
